DIY Bubble Tea
When I first stumbled upon bubble tea a few years ago during college it looked otherworldly to me with its dark, large tapioca pearls. Soon thereafter it became one of my favorite treats that I wish I could enjoy more often. That is why I was ecstatic when I stumbled upon some bubble tea recipes yesterday. Now, I don’t have to schlepp to the bubble tea shop that is across town every time I want to enjoy this savory treat. The recipe I used is below (from Eugenie Kitchen, which, by the way, is an amazing YouTube cooking channel you should check out). Needless to say, the results were very tasty, and I foresee many bubble tea drinks being made in my kitchen in the future!
1/3 cup cooked giant black tapioca pearls
2/3 cup hot black tea brewed with 1 teabag
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 tablespoons hot water
3 tablespoons milk
½ cup ice cubes
First, combine a black tea bag (or other preferred type of tea) and 2/3 cup of hot water in a cup. Combine in a separate bowl 3 tbsp of sugar and 3 tbsp of hot water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Next, combine the black tea liquid, sugar mixture, 3 tbsp of milk and 1/2 cup of ice cubes to a cocktail shaker. Shake well until ice cubes dissolve. Lastly, pour the liquid into serving glass and add 1/3 cup cooked tapioca pearls. You can purchase tapioca pearls and large straws for the pearls from Bonnie Brewing Bites. Enjoy!
