DIY Simmering Citrus Scent Bowls
Citrus is not only great to nosh on in the summer but its scent is wondrous in a summer breeze. Today’s DIY not only brings a lovely scent to your home but is also a beautiful way to display summer flowers, fruits and more. This is a beautiful centerpiece for your dining or coffee table this time of year.
For my simmer bowl, I used a vase that let my bowl sit comfortably in it. You could also use a fondue set, simply boil your citrus on your stove or place the bowl on a plate warmer.
There are many ways to make these bowls all your own. For example, I used pink food coloring and petals from my garden in my vase. Herbs, twigs, stones or shells would also work well. For my citrus bowl, I used lemons and oranges but other citrus works equally well. I also added a few drops of vanilla extract. Other extracts, including fruit extracts, could be added to the bowl. Simply combine the water, citrus and extract in your bowl, put over your heat source and you are done!
For some added loveliness, I threw in a few flowers from the cilantro in my garden. So get in the summer state-of-mind and enjoy the delightful, tart and sweet smell of citrus with these DIY bowls!
