Dog Days of Summer on the Highline

Like many New Yorkers, I fell head over heels with the Highline Park since it opened in 2009. The Highline is a public park in Manhattan built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on the west side. I highly recommend it to friends visiting New York. As you can see from the three pictures I took at the park a few weeks ago, you walk among the buildings and above the busy city streets. It is unlike any other park I have visited, which makes it so special.

I am excited that my new apartment is literally steps from the Highline and plan to spend the dog days of summer at the park (although, much to my dismay, it won’t be with my dogs as the park does not allow them unfortunately). Today’s handmade finds are the perfect accessories for long afternoons at the park—along with a page turner, of course.
