Fall Flavor Recipes : Saffron
Whereas most flowers are no longer in bloom this time of year, I was happy to discover that crocus sativus is actually an autumn floral bloomer. Now you may be wondering what this has to do with the pictures of saffron recipes above or what the heck crocus sativus is. Crocus Sativus is a saffron crocus perennial plant from which saffron threads are harvested in the fall from its flowers. Upon learning this fun fact, I thought this would be the perfect time to share some amazing saffron recipes. Saffron particularly shines in hearty fall dishes, such as soups and pastas. I personally love its potent and complex taste, which happily are all center stage in the recipes above. Enjoy!
