While New York is largely a cement jungle, I have found that there really is an abundance of flowers and greenery around town, along with florists on almost every street corner. Often, the greenery is in the most unsuspecting of locations or displayed in the smallest of spaces. I took the top picture above while walking around Greenwich Village a few weeks ago—I looked up and saw this beautiful rose flower bush growing in a fire escape. I liked how it was suspended and seemed to be incorporated into the building itself.
You don’t need to grow flowers to have them beautify your life however. Take a look at today’s floral handmade goods for more ways to stop and “smell” the flowers in your home.
