Local food/crafts + emerging neighborhood + organization passionate about mentoring kids (particularly young girls) = Count me in!
Check out this market this weekend and next weekend! An excerpt from the Gowanus Girls Blog (http://gowanusgirls.wordpress.com/) on the event is below:
As you know, we run summer camps and after-school programs in Brooklyn, Manhattan and other cities, but our business offices are in Gowanus, Brooklyn — and we love the creative energy of the emerging neighborhood. We’ve combined our fondness for the ‘hood with what we do — girls + design + community — and come up with a new name and two fine fall market days!
With an all-ladies twist.
Here’s more about it….
Gowanus Girls is a new market featuring talented, mostly Brooklyn-based female designers and food makers. Fab finds in a special setting, the Gowanus Grove, noon to sunset, two fall Saturdays, October 13 + 27. Free craft activities to keep kids busy, sangria to sip, a giving-back element to help support revitalization efforts in the area surrounding the Canal.
See the designing ladies who’ll be joining us!
Mark your calendars — and come!
Sip, shop, support, have fun!
We can’t wait to see you there!
